Simon Hughes MP with the "Democracy Dragon" boat team

Liberal Democrat President Simon Hughes MP came to support the Min Zhu Loong (Democracy Dragon) team at the 2008 Dragon Boat Festival, held on Sunday 8th June at the London Regatta Centre, Royal Albert Docks.

The team was very successful, finishing in the top quarter of the 44 boats, even though it was their first time in the competition. This was no great surprise considering CLD Chair, Linda Chung set the pace on the drum and 'veteran' rower Graham Watson MEP came to support the event as one of the 16 rowers, whilst raising funds for the Sichuan earthquake at the same time!
