Calling candidates for May's local elections

23 Jan 2019

Are you interested in standing to be a candidate in the Local elections in May 2019? One of the key aims of the Chinese Liberal Democrats is to promote and bring through more candidates from a Chinese or East Asian background to stand. With the large number of local elections in May 2019 we would love to see even more candidates on the slate and increase the number of Councillors we have with a Chinese background.

Last year, our secretary Sarah Cheung Johnson stood as a Lib Dems Councillor in South Cambs, becoming one of the 30 Councillors who took LibDem control in 2018.

Are you interested in becoming a Councillor but don't know what it involves? We can help! Chinese Liberal Democrats are now looking for candidates, mentors and helpers for the May local election.

'It's great to learn how the local political system works. Lots of valuable experiences. Everyone should give it a go, it's your right!' - Cllr Tatyan Cheung, Cotswold District Council

If you are interested, why not drop us an email? Chinese Lib Dems can offer you support with the selection process in your district, providing mentoring and campaigning support as well as offering a share of the grant we have each year to provide financial support for our campaign.
