Introducing Jonathan Fryer, Parliamentary Candidate for Dagenham & Rainham

4 May 2017
Jonathan Fryer

A long-standing member of Chinese Liberal Democrats, Jonathan Fryer, has been adopted as the LibDem parliamentary candidate for the East London constituency of Dagenham & Rainham. Jonathan studied Chinese at Oxford and Hong Kong universities and since 1993 has been a subject lecturer at London University's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). He also works as a freelance journalist and broadcaster, mainly for the BBC and several Middle Eastern TV channels.

Jonathan is also a prolific author. His first book was a history of The Great Wall of China, while his latest is a childhood memoir, Eccles Cakes.

A former Chair of London Liberal Democrats, he sits on the party's International Relations Committee, as well as the governing Council of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) and the Executive of Liberal International. He was a Councillor for one term in the London Borough of Bromey and just missed out (twice!) being elected to the European Parliament.

Editor: Good Luck Jonathan and thanks for flying the LibDem flag!
