Liberal Democrat Spring Conference in Sheffield

14 Mar 2011

The Party Spring Conference was held in Sheffield this year from 11-13 March. Chinese Liberal Democrats were once again represented at Conference, helping to man a joint stall with Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats to show case the work that we have been doing within the community.

The CLD delegation paid a visit to the Sheffield Chinese Community Centre (SCCC) on the Sunday where a reception was held by the new Chair Mr Roy Yau and his board members.

"We were most impressed by the excellent work carried out at the centre. These cater to the needs of the Chinese elders with social and luncheon clubs as well as cultural activities for the young people" commented Merlene Emerson, Chair of Chinese Lib Dems.

The centre like many other Chinese communitiy centres around the country will be facing challenges on the funding front but will nevertheless continue to provide vital services that their users have come to rely on.
