Earlier this week, Philip Ling (Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Bromsgrove in 2010 and one of two Chinese on the Party's Leadership Programme) debated current issues with Sonny Leong of Chinese for Labour and Thomas Chan from Chinese Conservatives. The hustings were organised by BBC Chinese and co-hosted by BC Project.

"Monday was a great opportunity to engage the Chinese community on the London elections." said Ling. " And to debate the main policies from the major parties and how they will impact the community."

"The Liberal Democrats are the only party to have an ethnic chinese candidate in Merlene Emerson, hopefully with the communities support and the strength of our policies and campaign, we will have an ethnic Chinese London assembly member."

There was a good turn out at the London Chinese Community Centre and the event was also filmed for CCTV Satellite Channel.

It has also been reported by various Chinese press.
