New Year message from Phil Ling, new Chair of CLDs

4 Jan 2013
Philip Ling

I am proud to be the new Chair of the Chinese Liberal Democrats for 2013. I will be building on the great work Merlene Emerson, our Chair has done for the past three years. It is testament to Merlene and the Executive's hardwork, that every year our events get larger and our work is more widely known amongst the Chinese community. Please join us at our Chinese New Year celebrations at the Grand Imperial Restaurant in London on 12 Feb with Jeremy Browne MP.

I would like to reaffirm our aims and purpose as an organisation:

  • To identify the needs and aspirations of the Chinese community in the United Kingdom.
  • To help the Liberal Democrats formulate policies and strategies which address those needs and aspirations.
  • To campaign and organise literature on behalf of the Liberal Democrats that more effectively reaches the Chinese community.
  • To encourage more members from the Chinese community to become politically engaged and/or to stand for public office.

2013 promises to be an exciting year. We will be doing more events so do keep an eye out for them. We will be increasing our exposure to Chinese communities across the country so we can help more people and raise their issues within the Liberal Democrats and with the Government.

I hope you will be part of our success - whether by actively helping, raising issues with us or by promoting the Chinese Liberal Democrats to family and friends.

Thank you for your continuing support.

Phil Ling
Chair, Chinese Liberal Democrats
